The Directorate assists, participates in, or serves as a direct channel in maintaining international cooperation of the Republic of Serbia in the areas of Directorate’s competence. This involves both the national liasion office with the International Atomic Energy Agency (the IAEA) in Vienna, and solid and direct cooperation with the European Commission, as well as membership and participation in the work of the international regulator associations such as HERCA (Heads of the European Radiological Protection Competent Authorities) and WENRA (Western European Nuclear Regulators Association).

The Republic of Serbia establishes international cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency from Vienna (the IAEA) by employing its institutions in various activities through the IAEA programmes, with special focus on Technical Cooperation Programme (comprising different projects, scientific visits and fellowships, training courses and worksops, experts missions, conferences, meetings, and other modes of cooperation). The cooperation and its coordination at the national level was carried out in the period between May 2010 and December 2018 through liasion channels in Serbian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (SRPNA). Today these chanells (NLO/NLA) are an office within the Directorate.
