On the final day of her official visit to the institutions in the Republic of Serbia that are included in the projects within the IAEA technical cooperation programme, Maria Del Pilar, together with the representatives of Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate (SRBATOM), visited the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad.

The high IAEA representative and SRBATOM team were welcomed by Prof. Dr Aleksandra Ignjatovic Cupina, full professor; Prof. Dr Ivana Pavkov, Vice Dean for Development and Industrial Cooperation; and Prof. Dr Mila Grahovac, Vice Dean for Science and International Cooperation.

Prof. Dr Mila Grahovac introduced the history, organization and research activities carried out at this faculty, and presented the key projects which had significantly contributed to the development of science and the impressive accomplishments within the field of agriculture.

One of these projects is “Strengthening National Capacity to Integrate the Sterile Insect Technique in the Control of Aedes Invasive Mosquitoes by Establishing a Mass Rearing Facility”, which is successfully implemented at the Faculty of Agriculture of Novi Sad. The guest was acquainted with the progress achievement, as well as some challenges in its implementation by Prof. Dr Aleksandra Ignjatovic Cupina.
