The Director of Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate (SRBATOM), Sladjan Velinov, held a meeting today at SRBATOM premises with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Programme Management Officer (PMO) for Serbia, Maria Del Pilar Murillo Fuentes. The purpose of the meeting was to present formally the plans for furthering the international cooperation between the Directorate and other international organizations, the IAEA in particular, and to have a brief overview of the status and current level of implementation of the ongoing national projects that are carried out within the IAEA TC programme in the Republic of Serbia.

After the meeting, the IAEA Programme Manager Officer, together with SRBATOM representatives, visited the Center for Nuclear Medicine at the Clinical Centre of Serbia where she had a meeting with the national project counterpart, Dr Vera Artiko and gained insight into the implementation of the project “Introducing Radionuclide Theranostics in the Centre of Nuclear Medicine, Clinical Centre of Serbia”, and “Strengthening capacity for sustainable advanced application of ionizing radiation in nuclear medicine and radiotherapy in Serbia with emphasis on treatment planning and delivery using hybrid imaging and widened theranostics application”.

The purpose of this five-day visit of Maria Del Pilar Murillo Fuentes to Serbia is to monitor the status of the national projects that are implemented in different institutions in our country through the IAEA support. In the remaining days of her visit, Del Pilar will have meetings with the national counterparts for other ongoing or future national projects in our country implemented through the IAEA TC programme.
