No Radioactivity Release in NPP Taishan in China

The China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA) informed the international community on 16 June 2021 that there was a minor damage on fuel rods in Taishan Nuclear Power Plant, which consequently led to the increased level of radioactivity in the closed reactor coolant system. This situation, which is not uncommon in the course of normal operation of nuclear reactors, was restored in line with the existing procedures.

The environmental radioactivity monitoring results confirmed that this incident caused no radioactivity release into the environment.
