New generation of measuring stations in Valjevo, Loznica, Sabac, Kladovo and Veliko Gradiste

Highly compact and flexible MIRA gamma dose rate monitoring and measuring stations have been installed in Valjevo, Loznica, Sabac and Veliko Gradiste. At the same time, SARA measuring station which enables early detection of extremely low levels of artificial radioactivity in the environment and on-site isotope identification, has been placed in Kladovo.

As a reminder, the existing early warning system in case of a nuclear or radiological emergency has been under the control and remit of the Directorate since its installation in 2007 and, so far, has comprised a network of nine measuring stations.

Following the installation of this modern system which is based on 33 stations, Serbia will have a nation-wide radiation monitoring with the state-of-the-art devices of this type.
