SRBATOM organizes conference “Sustain Nuclear Safety” on 15 December 2022

Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate (SRBATOM) organizes this year “Sustain Nuclear Safety” conference as a virtual event on 15 December 2022 under the name “Sustain Nuclear Safety 2022 – Conference on Uses of Radiation Sources and Nuclear Energy”.

This year’s conference is dedicated to small modular reactors, Goiânia accident and preparedness of our country to respond to emergency events. The conference will be divided into three separate panel discussions under the following titles:

1. Nuclear Energy – Towards Modularity

2. Goiânia – 35 Years Later

3. Nuclear Accident – Are We Prepared

The panel “Nuclear Energy – Towards Modularity” is dedicated to the current development of small modular reactors with a special consideration of  a current energy crisis in the world.

The panel “Goiânia – 35 Years Later” will shed light on the biggest incident involving radioactive sources that occurred in Brazilian city of Goiânia 35 years ago.

Finally, the panel “Nuclear Accident – Are We Prepared” gives the overview of the capacities of the Republic of Serbia to respond to a nuclear or radiological emergency, manners to monitor the environmental radioactivity and the measures to be taken in case of an emergency event.
