On the third day of her tour of the IAEA TC programme project counterparts in the Republic of Serbia, Maria Del Pilar Murillo Fuentes, IAEA PMO, together with the representatives of Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate, made an official visit to the Center for Nuclear Medicine at the University Clinical Centre of Kragujevac.

Dr Marija Jeremic, Medical Physics Specialist, introduced the guest with the organization and manner of work in the field of radionuclide diagnostics and treatment, as well as with the roles of the Centre for Nuclear Medicine in general. Dr Jeremic, as the national counterpart of the project “Improving Diagnostics of Cardiovascular Diseases and Identification of Sentinel Lymph Nodes in the Surgical Treatment of Breast Cancer and Melanoma”, presented Del Pilar the achieved results and expected output of this project which is successfully implemented with the support from the IAEA.

Dr Simona Petricevic from the University Hospital Medical Center of Bezanijska kosa, from Belgrade, which is also included in the projects, gave her comments on the equipment procurement and the presentation on the work and the needs of her institution and department. The meeting was also an opportunity to talk about the benefits the University Clinical Centre of Kragujevac and Serbia have from this project in the field of nuclear medicine.

After the meeting, Del Pilar had a tour of the Centre for Nuclear Medicine premises and the equipment donated by the IAEA within past projects.
