Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate (SRBATOM) organizes this year \u201cSustain Nuclear Safety\u201d conference as a virtual event on 15 December 2022 under the name \u201cSustain Nuclear Safety 2022 \u2013 Conference on Uses of Radiation Sources and Nuclear Energy\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

sources and nuclear energy.

Location: Live stream on YouTube Channel of the Directorate.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s conference is dedicated to small modular reactors, Goi\u00e2nia accident and preparedness of our country to respond to emergency events. The conference will be divided into three separate panel discussions under the following titles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Nuclear Energy \u2013 Towards Modularity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Goi\u00e2nia \u2013 35 Years Later<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Nuclear Accident \u2013 Are We Prepared<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The panel \u201cNuclear Energy \u2013 Towards Modularity\u201d is dedicated to the current development of small modular reactors with a special consideration of  a current energy crisis in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The panel \u201cGoi\u00e2nia \u2013 35 Years Later\u201d will shed light on the biggest incident involving radioactive sources that occurred in Brazilian city of Goi\u00e2nia 35 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the panel \u201cNuclear Accident \u2013 Are We Prepared\u201d gives the overview of the capacities of the Republic of Serbia to respond to a nuclear or radiological emergency, manners to monitor the environmental radioactivity and the measures to be taken in case of an emergency event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The speakers at the conference are: Maja Gojkovic, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Culture and Information and the Chairperson of the Board of Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate; Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency; Sladjan Velinov, SRBATOM Director, Serbian NLO with the IAEA; Dubravka Djedovic, Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy; H.E. Jaewoong Lee, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Serbia; Sonia Sun Young Hong, Overseas SMR Business Management at Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Corporation (KHNP); H.E. Jose Mauro da Fonseca Costa Couto, Ambassador of Brazil to Serbia; Ricardo Fraga Guterres, Director of Radiation Protection and Nuclear Security Department at the National Commission of Nuclear Energy of Brazil (CNEN); Raul dos Santos, Support in Radiological and Nuclear Emergencies, Instituto de Radioprotecao e Dosimetria from Rio de Janeiro<\/em> (IRD), Brazil; S\u00e1ndor Kapit\u00e1ny, Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA), Maja Eremic Savkovic, SRBATOM; Vedrana Vuletic, SRBATOM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
