SRBATOM ON TV PRVA, WEDNESDAY 20 NOVEMBER 2019.

The entire world is connected in a way so that it is practically impossible to hide any emergency event involving the release of radioactive material into the atmosphere, if it occurred. It is important for the citizens to bear in mind that there is someone constantly looking after their safety from radiation, and that there is a regulatory body to address any issues to or clear any misunderstanding they might have, Mr Sladjan Velinov, the director of Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security (SRBATOM) said in Good Morning show on TV Prva.

“The fact that during the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster there were no deaths resulting from radiation or explosion but only casualties from the tsunami causing the accident, substantiates the importance of advances in nuclear technologies and safety systems since the Chernobyl disaster”, Velinov added. This was also an opportunity for him to announce the conference Nuclear Safety Today in the House of the National Assembly on 25 November 2019.

This in particular, will be the topic of the first out of four panel discussions that will host our most eminent experts in this field.

“The aim of the conference is to show the public that this is one of the best-ordered and most regulated areas both here and abroad”, said Dr Bojan Radak, Adviser to Director in SRBATOM. He also pointed out that radioactive waste and nuclear material will be discussed as a special topic in the conference.
